Are we there yet? Where are we? How much longer do we have to go? These are all the usual questions kids ask their parents while traveling to a destination. As parents we smile and say, “soon, really soon” because we know where we’re going and how to get there. Knowing your destination and the path to get there provides a much more pleasant and efficient traveling experience. Have you ever been lost before? You feel the sudden panic of being somewhere unfamiliar. You question which is the correct path. Some people give up on their journey altogether. How many kids are lost in life? Clueless of where they want to go or how to get there. If they have no aspirations what is the point of them trying their best in school? Why would their grades be important to them other than satisfying their parents? This is why AOUP engineered the GPS, our Greatness Positioning System. Our GPS is a strategic tool which prompts children to enter their desired destination in life, shows them their current location at all times and provides the most efficient route to their destination. Sounds intriguing? Yes! But how does it work?

Enter your destination:

1. We instruct the children to list three things they are good at.

2. Out of those three things we instruct the children to choose the one they enjoy doing the most.

3. We explore which professions are associated with their choice.

4. We enter that choice as their destination.

Select your desired route:

1. We explore shortest vs. fastest route.

2. We instruct the children to choose their desired route.

3. We calculate a step-by-step route to the selected destination (training, degrees, certifications, skills, GPA requirements, time involved, etc.) based on shortest or fastest route chosen by child.

Begin your trip:

1. Children are instructed to assess and determine their current location in life as it pertains to their destination.

2. Children are provided with the necessary tools for their trip such as a physical map, compass, printout of their route and a photoshopped image of them arriving at their destination. These tools will be primarily used for creative visualization.

3. Inform children of certain pitfalls, detours, bad weather or rough terrain they may encounter. Explain setbacks and how to overcome them, not be discouraged by them.

4. Wish them well on their journey!

In short, we have created a process for children to identify a goal and how to obtain it. Our GPS also allows children to see if they are straying from their desired path in life. It will show them how to get back in the right direction and detail how much time they’ve lost or if they’re arriving early. We feel this tool plays an extremely vital role in helping our children make better decisions. Knowing where you want to go and seeing how to get there makes it much easier to navigate life. Let our awesome GPS guide your children to GREATNESS!
